Thank you very much, Christine, for giving me the opportunity to write this article.
My name is Christine Child and I design and create my bears under the name of Boot Button Bears.
I have a particular love of older bears, and I just think that their dear little souls would have so many stories of comfort to tell. I think that this is why I love to recreate the antique and vintage style bears.
I design and handmake all my bears and will often dress them in little vintage outfits or decorate them with some vintage accessories.
I only use the best quality materials to make my bears and all seams are double stitched to ensure a lifetime of hugs and cuddles.

I started making bears in the year 2000, when my young daughter wanted me to make her a bear.
I was so captivated by the process that I decided to research more into this craft, and I then took several courses with some wonderful bear artists, who were so generous in sharing their knowledge.
I make about 80 to 100 bears a year, and as each is an individual, that is about my limit.
I sell my bears from my website, www.bootbuttonbears.com and also on Ebay.
It has been such a joy meeting other bear artists and also the wonderful collectors.
It is so heartening to discuss bears with people who share my passion.
I hope to be able to keep creating my bears for a long time to come, and to continue to try and perfect the recreation of the wonderful old-timers.
