G.M.LOWENTHAL : Boyds creator
Boyds founder was born in New York in 1949.
Son of a jewish immigrant, he was a student in Alfred Univesity in New York.
He later joined the american army to take part to bring the peace to the world. Then, he went back to New York and began a commercial carreer.
In 1979, he lived in Maryland, closed to Washington DC .
G.M Lowenthal created with his wife an antique shop and it was the beginning of Boyds teddy bears.
Indeed this same love of antiques manage them to make ducks reproductions in a first time; then G.M Lowenthal created a hundred per cent merino teddybear, for thei new born son, Matthew.
So was born the first teddy bear Boyds exemplary. In 1987, The Lowenthal moved their society to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Since this date, Boyds success continued to grow to reach the success that they know today over the world.
RUSS BERRIE : Russ creator
In 1956 at 23 years old, Russ Berrie decided to
stop his studies to enter real world.
He answered an ad in the New York Times and founded a job in a toy company in Chicago In Illinois.
He liked his job so much that he became an agent and in 1957 found another company with a teddy bear brand. It was located at St Paul in Minnesota.
Later he became the agent of the "Pet toy" company. And in 1963, he was ready to begin his own company. However the problem was he had only 500 dollars. He went on working and at the end of 1965 he founded his own company.
It was the start of a promising carreer. His factory grew, in spite of difficult beginnings, in the garage of a company.
Today there are subsidiary companies all over the world. Russ Berrie died in 2002.
But Russ factory celebrated 2005. It had forty years of existence.
